Welcome Home Sailor- Lemoore, CA- Family, Children, Military Homecoming Photographer

May 5th, 2012

Military homecoming are very near and dear to my heart.  There is just little in this world that can compare to how a child’s face lights up at seeing Daddy or Mommy for the first time in months!  In that moment, Santa is about as exciting as chopped liver!  Because, really, the jolly man in the red suite is NOBODY compared to Daddy or Mommy!

The homecoming photo shoot is such a story and very similar to the deployment itself.  If you aren’t military you may not understand; so let me illustrate.  Deployments are about one thing!

WAITING!

There are somethings that make the waiting easier:

waiting is easier with a hug,

counting down the months, weeks, days, hours and minutes helps,

anything that distracts you is a GOOD thing!
Then FINALLY it is time to get ready….

ready to run into open armsand collect that long awaited kiss!

Little feels better than being complete again, a FAMILY!

Welcome home Josh!  I’m so happy that your family is together again!  Thank you for your service and thank you to your family for waiting.

Hoping your day is full of LOVE, LAUGHTER and beautiful MEMORIES!!

A Surprise Homecoming- NAS Lemoore, CA- Family & Military Photographer

January 10th, 2012

This homecoming story starts all the way back on November 5th, when I participated in a small business open house.  During the course of the open house and networking with different ladies on NAS Lemoore, I had the pleasure of meeting Rebecca and her two sweet little girls.  While there, she mentioned that her husband was on IA duty in Afghanistan and was nearing the end of his tour.

As luck would have it, at the end of the open house I held a drawing for a free homecoming session and pulled Rebecca’s name!  I notified Rebecca she won the homecoming session and asked her to let me know when her husband would be returning.  The very next morning, I opened my email and there was a message from Adam (Rebecca’s husband).  He let me know he would be coming home a week earlier than Rebecca expected and requesting my help surprising her and the girls!  My immediate reply was: YES, MOST DEFINITELY YES!

Several weeks passed; on December the 15th Adam emailed me that he had arrived in Kuwait and would be home on the 20th.  We decided that I would contact Rebecca and convince her that I wanted to do a pre-homecoming shoot of her and the girls on December the 20th.  I suggested that the photos would be a good homecoming gift for Adam.  Luckily, Rebecca was pretty easy to convince and things were all set!  From there things went off without a single hitch.  I was able to get a lot of wonderful photos of the girls and Rebecca together before Adam arrived:

The girls and I had a great time playing!  This is the last shot I took right before we heard the phone ringing:

Rebecca and the girls ran into the house to answer the phone and strolling around the corner of the house came Adam:From inside the house I hear the girls say, “Oh NO, we missed Daddy!”  Adam shouted back to them from outside the house;  ”No you didn’t, I’m right here!”  I hear a gasp inside the house and suddenly emerged three VERY happy ladies!

Welcome home Adam!!!  I’m so thrilled you were able to surprise your family and so honored to have helped, even just a little!  I’m hope the four of you had a FANTASTIC Christmas together!

Lora & Rick- Lemoore, CA- Couples Photographer

January 9th, 2012

Lora & Rick are two of my all time favorite clients!  I first met them in the early summer when Rick came home from long deployment onboard the USS Carl Vinson.  I had the amazing pleasure of documenting their reunion and I just fell in love with them!  First off, they are just some of the nicest people you will ever want to meet but, when you couple that with this amazing interaction they have together….Ahh, how could you help but love to be around them??

Rick is currently deployed, yet again.  I know Lora is counting the days to their next homecoming.  I’m excited too, homecomings are so very special and with these two, so very fun!  Rick, have a safe deployment and I look forward to seeing you and your wonderful wife together again very soon!
